Short Bible Verse FAILS

It was my first day of public speaking. I stood in front of a sea women who were excited to become a mentor. I had spent the last 5 weeks memorizing Titus 2...that passage that talks about older women teaching younger women to love their husbands and children. I stepped in front of the microphone and got about 4 words in, when my MIND WENT BLANK. I had spent hours using flashcards, writing the verses on my mirror, and practicing with a friend, and I couldn't remember the passage at all! Where was God's Word when I needed it most? Maybe I should just give up on this whole memorizing Scripture thing. I'm not good at it. Little did I realize this failure was going to be the catalyst for a lifetime of loving God's Word and memorizing it - not with aguish and stress - but joyfully.
Why your short Bible verses never fail.
Don't get me wrong. God's Word NEVER fails. In fact, the angel Gabriel tells Mary, "No word from God will ever fail." (Luke 1:37). There's truth upon truth and nothing but the truth in God's Word. Isaiah teaches us that the word that goes out from God's mouth shall not return empty, but will accomplish all that he purposes for it. (Isaiah 55:11). I truly believe God's Word is inerrant, fully trustworthy, and infallible.

The trouble is, our memories fail. Our methods fail. And while well- intentioned, our hours of practicing Bible verses just might fail, too. I didn't grow up in a school or family that taught me to memorize Scripture, but I've heard plenty of stories of kids who HATED Bible memory because of how it was executed. Rote memorization...say it again. Practice it again. God's Word became nothing more than a spelling test to them.
Short Bible Verses for Kids...with Music
What if there was a different way? What if hiding God's Word in your heart, or in the hearts of children could be fantastically joyful? Wonderfully fun? The best part of your day? Not only would the methods be life-giving, but the you would associate the joyful experience of God's Word with the Bible verses themselves, or even God, Himself.
Sing, Move, and Memorize is designed to make Bible memory the most joyful part of anyone's day. It starts with music. You can remember a song, right? A song from your childhood? Yep. Mary Had a Little Lamb just popped into my head. Music is the key to unlocking our memorization problem. Music is what makes it stick. Not just for a a few days or weeks, but for a lifetime.

I started memorizing Scripture when I started writing a song to a short Bible verse. I'd try out various melodies and rhythms until something sounded good and then record it into my voice memos app on my phone. Then, I'd listen to it again and again until it started running through my mind. Fast forward to when my first son was 1 year old and I'd sing those songs to him. I'd make little books with verses in them and sing the melody to him again and again. Now, I get to sing those same songs to hundreds of children every month.
